TO BE HELD AT THE Rialto Theatre IN Tacoma
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 1 2002) – The 2002 Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series, NASCAR Touring awards ceremony will be held Saturday, Oct. 19 at the historic Rialto Theater in Tacoma, Wash. Over $60,000 in point fund awards will be distributed to the top finishers in this year’s Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series campaign.

The Rialto, a 742-seat theater, originally served as an art-deco movie palace and now hosts the Tacoma Youth Symphony and the Northwest Sinfonietta. The Oct. 19 celebration will honor the 18th champion in the history of the Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series. Last season, Kevin Hamlin of Snohomish, Wash. became the youngest champion in series’ history by capturing the title at age 22. Hamlin has dominated the 2002 season, winning four of the series’ first five races and establishing a commanding points lead ahead of Chris Hart and Troy Conrad.

In addition to the series championship and point fund awards, the Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series awards ceremony will honor special award winners including the Gatorade Front Runner Award, Bud Pole Award, Rookie of the Year, 76 Gasoline Award, Most Popular Driver and special championship awards from Goodyear Tire.
