Bennett to make touring debut

(May 21, 2002) - This weekend Travis Bennett out of Ellensburg, WA., will be making his NASCAR Raybestos Brakes Northwest Series debut at Wenatchee Valley's Super Oval in the Cellular One 125.

For the past few weeks, Travis has been driving the American Dream Motorsports sponsored car at Yakima and Tri-city Raceway finishing as high as second. That car, which was up for sale the whole time, was sold to Lex Johnson last week.

The car he will be debuting in is an American Dream tour car named 'Vegas' which Kevin Hamlin drove in Phoenix. The Nutter motor was also used by Hamlin during the 2000 season. Vegas is brand new with only 2 races on it.

"We are very excited to have two cars at Wenatchee", said Hamlin. "Travis is a great driver, a good friend, and I know he will make American Dream Motorsports proud. He's very smooth and smart behind the wheel, and we know he will take care of the car and bring it home up front. It'll be a lot of fun, and I am looking forward to this weekend."

The one race opportunity was rewarded to Bennett as a result of his excellent driving in the straight rail late model. The paint scheme will be identical to Hamlin's, with the exception of a few minor changes. Be sure to watch for Travis Bennett as he takes a step to the next level this weekend at WVSO!
