NAPA
AUTO PARTS 200 SUMMARY:
·
The NAPA Auto Parts 200 Presented by NAPA Belts and Hose and Royal
Purple Synthetic Motor Oil is the ninth of 10 events on the NASCAR
Winston West Series schedule for 2002. It is the first visit to
Douglas County Speedway since 1971.
·
This race will mark the only NASCAR event in the state of Oregon
during 2002.
·
The fairgrounds speedway in Roseburg recently underwent a $400,000
renovation – which included expanding and widening the track, as well
as resurfacing.
·
Douglas County Speedway was a .25-mile paved oval when the series last
visited in 1971. It was later enlarged to .333-mile and then expanded
to a .5-mile oval during its recent renovation.
·
With two victories and two Bud Pole Awards, Jack McCoy
dominated previous series competition at the Oregon track. However,
Hershel McGriff won the race and the Bud Pole Award the last time
the circuit visited the track.
STATS OF
THE WEEK:
·
With eight races completed this season, the difference in points
between first place and 10th place in the championship
standings is 255 points. After eight races last season the difference
between first and 10th was exactly the same – 255.
