DANNY GRILL NAMED NASCAR WINSTON WEST SERIES DIRECTOR

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 3, 2002) – Danny Grill has been named NASCAR Winston West Series Director, the sanctioning body announced today. Grill, of Acton, Calif., replaces Mike Verlatti, who will remain with the series as race director. Verlatti, a 22-year veteran NASCAR official who served as Winston West Series director for the past five seasons, will also expand his duties with NASCAR to act as the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge Southwest Region director.

Grill has been the Featherlite Southwest Series director for five years and his replacement on that series has not yet been named. Grill will oversee all aspects of the NASCAR Winston West Series including inspections, rule changes, rule enforcement, personnel, scheduling, event logistics and other areas.

As race director, Verlatti will supervise the races, overseeing on-track and pit road officials during events. In addition, Verlatti, a resident of Pleasant Hill, Calif., will work with NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge tracks in the southwestern United States, assisting them with competition issues, sanctioning, marketing and other areas.
